The MXGP of Leon got off to a good start today for Michele Cervellin in the qualifying race as he tackled his CRF250RW through the Mexican mud.

Michele looked comfortable on the heavily demanding track and with his focus this weekend on getting a better start, he delivered. With an improved jump out of the gate, Michele battled into sixth position within the first few laps which he held for the majority of the race. After encountering a small problem half way through the race, he fell back to sixteenth position. Knowing he has the speed and capability of earning a top five position and with a decent start now under his belt, the Italian will take the same momentum into tomorrow’s races.

The first MX2 race gets underway tomorrow at 12:15 local time.

Michele Cervellin 747

Today was a good day, I had a good time in timed practice and I had a good start in the qualifying race until we hit a problem. I know I have good speed to stay with the top riders. The track is actually strange as it has ruts which are deep and in the beginning of the day it was slippery because they watered the track. Some parts are muddy and some parts are hard but I found it ok and hopefully tomorrow I will get the result I want.

Today Michele had a reasonable start but made good progress moving through the field to get to sixth within the first few laps. Unfortunately he then encountered a small problem which slowed him and consequently, dropped him down the field. We will go through the bike tonight and he will come back out looking for those top five/six places tomorrow.
