Michele Cervellin had a tricky day on his new CRF250RW in the soft Jacksonville sand.

After a deluge of rain fell on the track overnight, the MX2 class had their work cut out as they took first to the muddy conditions. Cervellin struggled all day to find his rhythm and when it came to the race this was no different, towards the end of the race he relaxed a little which enabled him to get into 14th position.

With points to race for tomorrow, Cervellin will refocus overnight. The first MX2 race starts at 12h15 local time on Sunday 3rd September.

Qualifying today wasn’t the best for me, I finished 14th. We improved from timed practice this morning and tomorrow I hope for a better race. I was struggling a bit with the track today, if is really soft and muddy and I couldn’t get a rhythm. I got better towards the end of the race as I felt more comfortable and relaxed on the new bike and began to find my rhythm on the track.

Michele didn’t make the start and was consequently mid-pack where a huge pile up occurred in turn two, forcing him wide and causing him to lose some positions. He did make some ground but again not what he needed to do on really a track that should suit his riding style. He will certainly be looking for a better start tomorrow to make his life easier in the races.
