Nagl fourth in MXGP of Trentino qualifying as Bobryshev fights back
Team HRC’s Max Nagl and Evgeny Bobryshev endured mixed fortunes in Saturday’s qualifying race for round four of the World Motocross Championship in Trentino, Italy.
Max finished fourth after a strong and consistent race in which he made a great start, while Bobryshev brought his CRF450RW home in 13th place despite a fall at the start which left him 30th and last.
On a clear day in the Italian mountains, Nagl started well and was fifth after turn one, a position he duly kept until the 10th lap where he capitalized on an error by Jeremy Van Horebeek to take fourth.
It was a different story for Bobryshev though who, after a turn one crash, showed top six pace to fight back to 13th place to give himself a chance going into Sunday.
Tomorrow’s opening race will be held at 13:10hrs local time where clear skies are again forecast amid the mountains of Trento.

"I’m happy with the day because the bike improved quite a lot from Brazil until now. The track was pretty difficult because it was slippery. It was dry, but still pretty slippery with no ruts so was difficult for me to turn. Top five pace was ok, but the top three were like one second faster so I want to change something to close the gap. Tonight we will make some changes to make it easier in the turns, but the gate jump was really good today and also in the straight we’re strong so with fourth position I am happy because we have a good gate for tomorrow."

"I had some spinning on the gate to I lost the jump and then in the middle of the straight two riders touched and braked so I just touched the rear wheel with my front and crashed. When I picked the bike up I was last so then I was fighting to come through the field. Because the ground is slippery it’s difficult to be aggressive here, but I had like four eyes to find the lines to pass the riders, and I was fighting to the finish and managed to come through to 13th. I need just for tomorrow to concentrate on the start and find a little bit different technique because otherwise the pace today was not so bad."

"Max got a really good start today. If you’re in the top half dozen after the first corner it’s good enough as it’s about being careful here into turn one because it’s so slippery, so he judged it really well. Bobby had a big big climb back after his crash, but his laptimes were good and he passed 17 riders so pretty positive. Both riders had consistent laptimes and the bikes worked well so generally it was good today."
