Bobryshev third for Team HRC in MXGP of Spain qualifying
Evgeny Bobryshev recorded his second best qualifying result of the season today, crossing the line in third place to continue Team HRC’s run of podium-performances on the Honda CRF450RW.
Both he and Gautier Paulin got through the first corner unscathed, and after the dust of the first lap settled, found themselves in third and seventh respectively.
Bobby ran a consistently strong race in third from the gate drop to the chequered flag, but Paulin’s race was a little more tumultuous. Whilst closing on the trio ahead of him, he made a small mistake that relegated him to tenth. Pushing to the last, he cut back through the field to pass Steven Frossard for sixth position on the final lap.
Bobby’s best lap was good enough for third fastest of the race, and Paulin’s best effort put him fourth fastest overall. The first of tomorrow’s two races starts at 14:15hrs, and again the temperature is expected to hit 30 degrees Celsius.
Roger Harvey
“Bobby rode a good race today, riding consistently to sit in a strong third all race. The starts were ok today and both riders had a good first two corners, but Gautier just made a small mistake in the race. He then came back quite strongly, especially as it’s not one of the easiest tracks to make time and pass on. Although it’s quite open, it’s pretty much one line today and I don’t think it will change much tomorrow. At the moment you might get one guy a lap if you’re lucky, so everyone’s totally focused on getting out of the gate. If you’re away in the top three, it’s a top three finish, so we’ll see what tomorrow brings.”

“I had a good start. The track was really tough because of slippery spots and in many places I was fighting a lot, so it was difficult and I need more flow, but the rest is ok. I had good rhythm, good speed, and it’s a good gate pick for tomorrow.”
Gautier Paulin 21
"My start was not so good this afternoon and I was seventh after one lap, and later tenth after a small crash. I came back sixth, but on this track the pole is not so important for the start."
