Taking place on Saturday and Monday, the MXGP of Switzerland will be round six for the Honda HRC squad, and another chance for the quartet to show their skills in the world motocross championship.

Frauenfeld has hosted the last couple of Swiss GPs and last year’s edition saw Tim Gajser storm off with the win, in a tremendous display at the rutted conditions of the tight and technical circuit. The Slovenian went one-one and rode with the speed and control that has been on display already this year, as he’s won three of the five rounds so far in 2025. Last weekend it was an excellent one-one in Trentino, as he became the most successful rider at the Italian track, and now he’ll turn his attention to trying to repeat the 2024 success and increasing his MXGP championship lead even further.

Ruben Fernandez has also been improving week on week, and he was just a few points short of making the podium alongside Gajser last weekend. He returned at this venue last year, taking a holeshot and leading a few laps so he has good form here and his aim is to try and show that speed across all three races this time around.

In the MX2 class, Ferruccio Zanchi also knows the importance of putting in a strong showing on Saturday, to help his chances in the GP-scoring races (being held on Monday to avoid the Easter Sunday holiday). He did manage to break into the top 10 twice in Trentino but wants more in Frauenfeld and is determined to get back to his podium-level of riding on the split race-days.

Valerio Lata had his best race result with a fifth at the Pietramurata track, so he is also showing encouraging signs, and beginning to find the speed required to race with the best MX2 riders on the planet. Starts are proving to be critical in this highly competitive class, so the pair will be motivated to get their Honda CRF250Rs around the first corner inside the top five, just like how Gajser and Fernandez have been doing on their CRF450Rs.

Tim Gajser 243

Last week in Trentino was just an amazing experience, meeting all the fans and then being able win both races for the GP victory. To see them all from the podium is just a great feeling and one I’ll never forget. Last year in Switzerland I was able to win this GP too, so I have good memories there and I’m hoping I can continue this good run of form and add even more from the race this weekend.

Ruben Fernandez 70

I feel like I am close to putting everything together and getting myself on the podium. I’ve had some really good races, my speed has been good and I’m definitely heading in the right direction this season. Now I just need to try and cut out the small mistakes and be consistent across the whole weekend and I think its possible that Switzerland could be the one where I make it happen. I had a good return from injury last year in Frauenfeld, and I want to make another good impression this year.

Ferruccio Zanchi 73

I enjoyed Switzerland last year, and had a good moto there in race one with a sixth. However, I know from this year that I need to start off better on Saturday, in order to give myself a good chance on Sunday. Last weekend in Trentino I did the best I could from last gate-pick but if I get a good pick for Sunday, I feel like I can still fight with the top riders and deliver some better results.

Valerio Lata 18

I had a good ride in Frauenfeld last year so it will be good go back there in the MX2 class. In Trentino I had my best race of the season with a fifth in the first moto and that really gave me some confidence that I can mix it up with the best riders in this field, so now I need to try and do that consistently. That begins with the starts and we made some improvements there, so the aim is to do that three times in Switzerland and see what we can achieve.

Marcus Pereira de Freitas

HRC General Manager - MXGP

We are all really proud of what Tim was able to do in Trentino. He overcame some difficulties on Saturday and just rode flawlessly on Sunday and got exactly what he deserved with the victory. We also believe that the other three guys, Ruben, Ferro and Valerio are moving in the right direction and are having some good moments, so now we want to try and help them have more of those opportunities.
