Start of the MXGP of the Americas delayed due to weather
The opening day of the MXGP of the Americas at the Charlotte Motor Speedway has been postponed as a result of the weather brought in by tropical storm Hermine.
Heavy rain overnight soaked the venue, although the organisers had already taken precautionary steps to protect the dirt by covering large portions of the track. As the tropical storm moves north east, more heavy rain is expected throughout today, and a result today’s running has been postponed and Saturday’s schedule adjusted accordingly.
It means that The Dirt Track will see no action today, and free practice will get underway tomorrow at 1405hrs local time for the MXGP class.
A slightly condensed programme sees free practice followed by time practice, then straight into the first race. There will be no qualifying race as a result of the changes.
