Team HRC head to Matterley Basin with sights set on the podium
This weekend will see the Team HRC squad tackle the seventh round of the MXGP season, the Grand Prix of Great Britain, with continued determination to gain big points and close the gap on the championship leaders.
After a weekend of scoring strong points, but missing out on a podium, Team HRC riders Evgeny Bobryshev and Gautier Paulin will be looking to continue their strong run of form and taste the champagne once again.
After dominating the GP of Europe, Spain proved to be an unfortunate weekend for Gautier Paulin with an incident that wasn’t his fault. This weekend, the Frenchman will be looking to return to winning ways.
A podium finish has, so far, been tantalisingly close but proven elusive for Evgeny Bobryshev in 2015. The #777 rider will be looking to change that this weekend, at a track at which he stood on the podium on his last visit, as he continues to re-establish himself as a genuine podium contender each weekend.
The Johnny Douglas Hamilton-built track at Matterley Basin was first used by MXGP in 2006 with the Motocross of Nations visiting it just months later. It then disappeared from the MXGP calendar until its comeback in 2011. Over the past four years it has become a staple in the MXGP diet, with its great atmosphere and even better racing.
Sunday’s MXGP on track action will see race one at 14.15hrs and race two at 17.10hrs local time.

“The British round is always one of the busiest on the calendar as lots of companies are based in the UK and there’s always a lot of people come to this race. The schedule’s also very busy, so along with great support from the fans there’s always a great atmosphere. We know the track suits Bobby as he finished on the podium last time he was there, and Gautier’s something of a master of the big jumps so it should also suit his style well. We're looking for strong results from the UK round this weekend.”

“After Spain I stopped riding and training on the bike for seven days. I hurt my back there during the second race and towards the end of the moto it started hurting more than I thought, so I went for some therapy which was great and it was a good time to recover. I started training again on Monday and now it’s no problem and I’m feeling good. I like riding this kind of track and Matterley Basin is also a great one for motocross fans.”

“I’m really looking forward to the UK round this year. It was so hard having to sit it out last year and watch from home. It’s a nice event with a lot of spectators, and I really like this kind of track. It’s a good design, many jumps, good ground and it’s quite wild so you can use all of the power of the bike. There are many lines too so racing is good. 2013 was a good year for me at the track as we were on the podium, and I feel ready for it again this year. Every time in the last races we’re close to the podium, but the competition is so strong so it’s important to be consistent. For sure I want to get on the podium again this weekend.”
