Top three for Team HRC in Great Britain qualifying
Team HRC’s Evgeny Bobryshev finished third in today’s qualifying race for the MXGP of Great Britain, fighting with Max Nagl for second until the finish.
A good start, something the Russian has been working on in recent weeks, saw him into fifth, and he soon made progress onto the back of Nagl as the battle for second ensued.
After a small crash in this morning’s opening free practice session, Bobby was however nursing a badly bruised leg, where impact with the end of his handlebars left him with a large hematoma that impeded him especially through right handers.
Gautier Paulin returned to action today having been sidelined in France last time out, but his qualifying race wasn’t so fortunate. In a freak accident, contact in the first corner meant that the buckles on his left boot were dislodged and came undone. Persevering, the Frenchman wisely chose to stop before the big quad jump and re-buckle his boot before continuing in 36th and last place. Fighting back to 17th meant that he salvaged something for tomorrow’s race starts, and will still be a contender.

“I was feeling good and fighting with Max all the race, having lots of roost which wasn’t so much fun, but the bike was working really well and we had a good start which made the race so much easier. It was quite tough though as I had a crash this morning and I have a big hematoma on my right leg. The work from the medical centre and the team reduced the pain, but it’s still swollen and it hurts on landing and basically every time I bend the leg. It will be better tomorrow though I'm sure, and I want to make more good starts because I know we can be strong here tomorrow.“

“It was a shame – one of those really freak things. I was hit on the left boot by another bike in the first corner, and it hit perfectly badly and managed to pop my boot buckles. I tried to continue, at least for the first lap to let it all settle down, but before I got to the quad I just thought it was impossible and stupid to try. So I stopped and sorted them out and then could carry on again. It’s a shame, but tomorrow is a new race and we’ll still be pushing and fighting, and I hope at the front.”
Roger Harvey
“It’s great again to have two Hondas in the top three, and although it’s only qualifying and the points are tomorrow, it’s a strong start to the weekend. Tim rode fantastically, and Bobby was also at the sharp end, fighting all race with Max for second. It’s a shame for Gautier to have had the little problem, which really was one of those freak things. It’s a tight first corner so there’s very little room for anyone. But we’re looking strong and feeling confident ahead of tomorrow.”
