Back to the starts for Cervellin
The MXGP of France started well for Michele Cervellin, when he came fifth in timed practice on his CRF250RW.
It was all looking good for the Italian as he prepared to start the qualifying race. It was during this race however that it all fell apart slightly for him. He had a poor start after getting caught up in the first corner, which set him into the back of the pack. After overcoming the first hurdle, Cervellin kept making small mistakes when he began to push which cost him dearly. His lap times are reflective of that of the top seven but his mistakes meant he was unable to find his flow giving him a 20th place finish overall.
Despite this, he is optimistic for a good race tomorrow as he can see where he went wrong and what he needs to improve on.

The day started good for me in timed practice where I came in fifth. Usually I race better but today timed practice was better! In the race I crashed in the start, then I crashed again and then before the finish line I crashed again! I am sure tomorrow will be better, I know I have good lap times I just need to focus and then tomorrow deliver a better result.

Michele’s start wasn’t good enough today and that determined the rest of the race for him. The track is very fast and although it’s very rough, everyone is running at pretty much the same speed. He slipped off a few times which dropped him back to 20th eventually and this is the final position he took. He needs to correct this by tomorrow so in order to do this he will need to have a good start and make no mistakes. The first turn is difficult for them as there is a lot of bunching at this point and riders tend to go everywhere, so let’s see what he can turn around for tomorrow.
