Michele Cervellin helped his two team-mates to a top-ten result for Team Italy at the 2017 Motocross of Nations, held at the Matterley Basin track in the UK.

Despite the track being in favourable conditions in qualifying yesterday, a deluge of rain overnight created a sticky mud that caught even the best riders out.

Cervellin, who has been battling with a groin injury since the US GP struggled today on his CRF250RW in the muddy conditions. His efforts alongside fellow CRF mounted rider Alessandro Lupino and world champion Antonio Cairoli, earned Italy a seventh place finish overall.

Today was not a good race for me. I struggled with my leg in these conditions but I just tried to do my best for Team Italy and for HRC as it is my last race with them. The track was so difficult and you need an umbrella on you just to see where you are going. I am going to take some time now to focus on next year.

It was difficult for Miki today as he needed to get the good starts and his qualifying results wasn’t so goods that didn’t help. He is still carrying the leg injury from the US GP and although he isn’t saying its bad, it has been painful and it has hampered him a lot. This was made worse when the conditions turned this weekend.
