Mixed feelings for team HRC MXGP in Switzerland
Tim Gajser and Evgeny Bobryshev were left lamenting on what could have been this weekend on their CRF450RW’s, as the HRC duo took sixth and eighth overall in Switzerland.
With both riders struggling for good starts and making small mistakes on track, it was a weekend full of promise without the results. Both had the speed capable of a top three finish but neither were able to achieve it. For Gajser, the damage had been done in yesterday’s qualifying race as his poor gate pick meant his starts were that much harder to work with today.
In the first race Bobryshev had a better start and was immediately fighting for sixth position. Further back in the field, Gajser fought his way through the pack in a battle with Herlings which eventually left him in seventh position. Bobryshev meanwhile was making headway but a small mistake cost him to drop back to ninth.
Both had a better start in the second race which set them mid-pack of the top 10. After racing with each other and then chasing down fifth and sixth position, Gajser managed to make his way to fifth whereas a mistake in the last lap meant Bobryshev fell back to eighth.
Next week HRC MXGP are in Sweden for round 16 and the last of this trio of back to back rounds.

Racing was not so bad today the speed was good. Yesterday I had bad luck in the qualification race and ended up 32nd so my gate pick was really limited and obviously, this showed today in racing. It is almost impossible to make a good start from getting that result in qualifying. The first race I was a little bit further back because I had a bad start. I had to pass loads of riders and then I came back to seventh. It is not what we want but I still gave it my best and tried to pass as many guys as possible. The second race start was a little bit better but still I had to make many passes to come back and I finished the race in fifth. When I am racing on hard pack, I want more as I know that I have the speed I just need a little bit more luck but I will continue working hard for Sweden next week.

This really isn’t my sort of track if I am honest. I didn’t have such a good feeling here and most of the difficulty came with trying to pass other riders. I didn’t have the greatest starts today and then in both races I crashed. In the first race, I was in sixth with a huge gap behind me so I was feeling comfortable and then I made a small mistake and fell and it cost me that position. The second race was more frustrating as I was battling for sixth place and then I fell in the last lap. It has just not been my weekend but I will work hard this week for Sweden to show the results I am capable of.

I know I have gone on about it all year but we need starts! Good starts give us good results, average starts give us average results. Today we had poor starts and average results so not really satisfactory from that side and it could have been much better. Having said that, both riders dug in and rode well on a track that was catching a lot of riders out. The boys will now be concentrating on their starts between here and Sweden to see if we can resolve this. I am confident if the riders get their starts sorted we will achieve better results.
