Mixed fortunes for Cervellin in US GP
In a hot and sticky Jacksonville, Michele Cervellin and his new CRF250RW didn’t achieve the overall today he had hoped for in the MXGP of the USA.
With the track proving difficult for the riders yesterday, it was a blessing today that the rain held off and enabled the track to dry. After struggling yesterday and making some small changes overnight, Cervellin was optimistic for a better day today. The first race he had a good start and was running mid-pack but a technical problem halted his progression in the race and he was forced to retire. As the second race got underway, although unable to get a good start still managed to finish in twelve place.
MXGP heads back to Europe again next weekend to Assen for the penultimate round of the championship where Cervellin will push for those last vital points.

In the first race, I had a good start, probably one of my better starts this year and I was running well but then my bike had a technical issue so I DNF’d the race which was a bit disappointing. The second race was not so bad for me but I didn’t start so well. It was a difficult race as it was so hot today but I still managed to get 12th.

We are running the 2018 CRF250RW in the MX2 for the first time this weekend and what are trying to do is gather information. The bike is brand new to us, so we are developing as we ride. Cervellin has had three days on the bike and on his own he has been very good but it is different in competition. When it came to race one, Cervellin rode quite well and was running mid-pack but then we had a small electrical issue on the bike which gave him a DNF. The second race he rode more solidly, he started to settle into the bike and then just at the end of the race, he got cross rutted and threw the bike away. Fortunately, he came away without injury and his Fox helmet saved him as he took a fair bang to the head.
