Gautier Paulin once again stood on the MXGP podium today, taking second overall having ridden to a pair of third places on the no.21 CRF450RW.

Race one saw Gautier slot into seventh from the start, but Bobby was not so lucky as he was nearly put down in the first corner tussle, remaining upright but emerging in 14th. From there Paulin pushed his way into third by the finish, whilst Bobby climbed to the back of the group fighting for fifth, but ultimately could only cross the line 11th.

In the second race, the start was more positive and Bobby and Paulin emerged unscathed in third and fifth respectively. Paulin soon put the hammer down and set the fastest lap of the race as he promoted himself to third overall, passing Bobby and World Champion Antonio Cairoli. Bobby finished fifth, to complete the Grand Prix weekend in eighth overall.

The second overall represents the fourth time the Frenchman has stood on the podium with Team HRC this season, and strengthens his third position in the World Championship after twelve of the 18 rounds.

Roger Harvey

HRC General Manager - MXGP

“It’s great to see Gautier on the podium again. After his domination yesterday when he took a clean sweep of all sessions, it’s not been the easiest of days in general really because of the changeable weather and the heavy rain that fell this morning, and for Bobby his near-crash in the first corner of race one, so to come out of it with a podium is positive. Gautier again showed good speed today with the fastest lap in race two and even a purple split time right at the end of that race, and although Bobby was a little stiff on the bike this afternoon’s race was more productive for him. Both riders scored good points today which at this time in the season, when we can see that the championship is wide open, is very important.”

Gautier Paulin 21

3rd, 3rd 2nd overall

“It’s always positive when we’re on the podium as it’s good for everybody in the team, just when we saw the riding we had yesterday we could expect a little better. Third and third, and second overall is strong, but yesterday I completely dominated the day. It was really wet today so this was a little more hard for the bikes because it was very sticky, and it also made it more hard to pass. Actually the whole weekend I didn’t make good starts, but yesterday was a little easier to pass than today so I could come through more easily. For sure it’s positive, and although we still aim to do better, I’m happy.“

Evgeny Bobryshev 777

11th, 5th 8th overall

“Today was a bit tough really. In race one I lost a lot of time in the first corner when three riders crashed in front of me, so from then I had to fight back through the traffic but it was so difficult to overtake because there was basically just one line. Race two was better, and we take some more good points, but overall I’m a little disappointed after this weekend as we had the pace for more.”
