Team HRC MXGP look to carry podium momentum into Mexico
With the championship focus for Team HRC MXGP rejuvenated after the podium success in Argentina, Tim Gajser and Evgeny Bobryshev are hoping for a repeat performance this weekend as they head into the fourth leg of the MXGP in Leon; Mexico.
The track has proven to be fruitful for Gajser over the last 3 years. In 2016 he won here in a race described as his ‘hardest fought victory’ and he took his very first MX2 career win here in 2014. Now holding onto the red plate following his GP win in Argentina, the Slovenian is looking forward to returning here to focus on extending his championship lead.
Bobryshev who has now fully recovered from the virus that had plagued him since Indonesia, has been training in the US since the Argentinean GP to acclimatise himself to the Mexican heat. In 2016 the Russian took fourth overall after having to overcome various challenging obstacles during the weekend. With a third-place finish under his belt in Argentina, Bobryshev will be fixed on bettering this result in Mexico.
MXGP Free practise starts at 11:15 local time on Saturday 1st April.

Mexico was really good for me last year. I won there as well so I am really looking forward to it. I like the track, it has many waves and technical jumps on the track which I get on with. It is good that I have could go home for a weekend before we head to the last fly away round. I will do my best and I am sure I will enjoy it a lot.

After Argentina, I have been really happy with my result and now I want to do a good job In Mexico too. Leon is a strange track but I had a good result there last year so we will see how it goes but it is really difficult conditions for me as the weather is warm there. I am training in the US to get use to the heat so it will help me participate better in Mexico.

We are coming off a good result in Argentina and with Mexico although we know the track, it’s a completely different terrain to Argentina. We have had good results here in the past so hopefully we will have the same this weekend. Bobryshev has been testing and training in America with the help of American Honda and Tim went back to his base in Slovenia so everything appears to be on schedule for the weekend. We have a lot of Honda associates coming to the Mexican GP so will be busy one for us.
