‘There are sand tracks, and then there’s Lommel’
Just one weekend after Loket, Team HRC are back in action at the MXGP of Belgium where the punishing sand of Lommel beckons.
The sand track of all sand tracks, Lommel is a demanding and unforgiving venue and with a mammoth nine races including support classes on Sunday, it will be more rutted, bumpy and challenging than ever.
Evgeny Bobryshev stood on the podium with second overall last time out at Loket with his best ride of the season, and in doing so moved himself to fourth in the championship. Despite missing the MXGP of Belgium last year with injury, Bobby stood on the podium in the 2013 edition with third.
With Antonio Cairoli out of the running for the remainder of this season, another strong result in Lommel will see Bobby inherit third place overall in the World Championship standings, just behind Gautier Paulin who lies second in the standings.
Five rounds remain of the 2015 season; three in Europe and a final pair of back-to-back races in Mexico and the United States.

“Lommel is a difficult track, which is the roughest on the calendar. It’s known that there are sand tracks, and then there’s Lommel. It’s going to be a tough weekend, but we can handle it well. It’s been a difficult year compounded by injuries, but second and fourth currently in the championship is clearly not bad, although there’s still room for improvement. Bobby has the opportunity to move himself into third overall this weekend so we’re in a good position at this stage in the championship with five races remaining.”

“I’m just looking positively towards another good race this weekend, not at the standings at this point. Lommel is a special track which is crazy rough and tough. I like to race there, and it will be very interesting to see what happens this weekend I think. For sure the positive weekend in Czech makes me very positive now. When you have a good weekend and things go well, it makes you more happy in the week with training, but Lommel is a new weekend and a new track so everything is different.”
