Consistent ride for Cervellin in Sweden.
Michele Cervellin took 12th overall today in the MXGP of Sweden on his CRF250RW.
The Italian had a poor start in the first race when he got boxed in the first corner. Always able to find his feet further on in the race, Cervellin pushed in the last few laps to pull back from 14th to 11th. The second race started much better for him. He was in ninth place off the start, fighting for eighth. A small crash cost him two positions and with limited time to make up any more ground, he settled for 11th giving him a 12th place finish overall.
Following his crash yesterday in qualifying, Taiki Koga refrained from racing in the MXGP of Sweden today. Although nothing was broken, he was experiencing discomfort and will now return home to finish his quest for the IA2 title in Japan.
The series now takes a break before returning to Jacksonville for Round 17 where Cervellin will also be debuting the new 2018 CRF250RW.

I had two 11ths today which isn’t exactly where I want to be but I know my riding was good. The second race was much better for me as I had a good start and was holding eighth then I had a small crash whilst pushing for a better position which meant I came in 11th again. I am looking ahead now to the US where I will be riding the new CRF250RW.

Cervellin opted to take the inside gate in the first race, which would have worked out fine for him if he had pulled a holeshot but he just missed that opportunity resulting in him being mid-pack in the first turn. He raced consistent laps and managed to get through to 11th by the end of the race. It is very difficult to pass on this track, especially with a mid-pack start. Race two was a much better start for Miki in eighth place where he held for several laps until a small mistake sent him back to 11th. Although he has had a consistent ride, the results are quite disappointing for us.
Koga came here to learn and unfortunately in the qualifying race yesterday he had a rider go down in front of him and a then a following rider landed on his foot. This caused Koga quite severe bruising. He tried to ride today in warm up but the pain was too much. Considering the Japanese championship, we made the decision that he would be better to rest the foot. This will be in preparation for the next round of the Japanese championship which is next weekend.
