Tim Gajser and Evgeny Bobryshev will line up on their CRF450RW’s for the penultimate round of the FIM Motocross World Championship this weekend in Assen for the MXGP of the Netherlands.

This will the third consecutive year the circuit has played host to MXGP and the TT circuit will once again be transformed by 25,000 cubic meters of sand. The track they use consists of the final corner, main straight, put lane and a portion of the paddock, of the historic road racing track.

Assen was a difficult round for Gajser last year but he had success here in 2015 when he won the MX2 race and took the red plate. Bobryshev has had a podium finish here too and is fond of the tricky sand track.

The first MXGP race starts at 17h10 local time on Saturday 9th September.

Assen isn’t my favourite track on the calendar, I find the sand there really strange but I will be working to find a good setting this weekend with the suspension to help me feel more comfortable during the race. The goal is to get back on the podium as that is where I want to be.

Evgeny Bobryshev 777

Assen is a pretty special track, the white sand is really gnarly and slippery. A few years ago, I had good speed there and felt really good on the bike. I am hoping when we head back to Europe there will be good weather as that will help the track for the weekend. We potentially have to deal with jetlag this weekend too, it is tough to come back from a flyaway straight into another race. I think there should just be enough recovery time to be strong for Assen.

Assen has been one of the popular tracks on the calendar, the sand they ship in is so fine, it is almost like that of a beach race and can be slippery. We have had some good races here in the past with Tim taking the red plate in MX2 in 2015 and Bobby also made onto the podium here too. With that in mind we are expecting a strong performance from the HRC riders this weekend
