With a track of ever changing conditions in the Mexican heat, Michele Cervellin delivered in Mexico today on his CRF250RW as his improved starts reflected in his results.

In the first race Cervellin had a good jump out of gate but then collided with another rider down the start straight, causing him to falter slightly. This set him further back in the  pack as he entered the first corner. Within the first lap the feisty Italian worked his way through the crowded class back to 12th place. The young Italian gave it his all for the rest of the race and pulled his way back to ninth place.

In the second race Cervellin had a stronger start which meant in the first lap he immediately found himself in 11th place. He ended up in a battle for eighth place in a group which are all a similar pace. It was very hard to make progress on the challenging track especially with limited places to pass so in the end he had to settle for 11th.

Finishing 11th overall today means Michele now moves up to seventh in the championship standings. He now moves onto familiar ground as we head into the European leg of the series in two weeks.

Today was ok for me. In the first moto I didn't have a bad race as I finished ninth but in the second I finished eleventh. Eleventh wasn't so bad for me in the championship as the points help but it isn't really where I want to finish. For me the start is still a challenge but I improved on this today in both the races. Overall I have had good points for the championship but I am looking forward to racing back in Europe in two weeks.

It was the first time here for Cervellin so he had a lot to learn on a very difficult track where mistakes are made very easily by many riders. Off the start of the first race, he collided with another rider on the straight which put him to the back of the field. However within a lap he was running in the top ten and ended up finishing ninth against the pace of the group he was running in. Race two was a much better start for him and he still ended up around tenth on the first lap, fighting in the bunch of riders that he is running the same pace as. The objective now is to break out of this group and get into the next group in front of him. Now we are coming back to tracks he is more familiar with, this is a strong possibility. Now Cervellin lies seventh in the championship which is round about what we were targeting him for at the beginning of this campaign.
