Trying day for Team HRC MXGP
Humidity and heavy rain overnight added to the challenging conditions that Gajser #243 and Evgeny Bobryshev #777 faced today on their CRF450RW’s in the qualifying race at the MXGP of the USA.
Earlier on in the day, both Gajser and Bobryshev appeared to be comfortable with the soft track conditions when they each put in solid times during free and timed practice. When it came to the race, it was a struggle early on for the HRC duo. Bobryshev had a crash within the first section but the steely Russian shook it off to finish the race in 18th place. Gajser was off the pace on his start which meant he had his work cut out to make it through the pack. The Slovenian was unable to make up the ground he had wanted but salvaged 11th place.
The first MXGP race starts at 13h15 local time on Sunday 3rd September where both riders will be looking for a better overall result.

Today was a bad day. I didn’t have the best start so I was really far back in the pack. I could make some passes in the first two laps, then I made a small mistake and almost went down. After that I was stuck behind Simpson for all of the race and to top it off I lost all of my tear offs, off of my goggles and I was riding without them for the rest of the race. I am just going to stay focused and hope tomorrow for a better race
Evgeny Bobryshev 777
On the wave section, someone hit my front wheel and I ended up going over the bars in the first lap. I hurt my stomach and my shoulder so it was difficult to come back. Then I made a small mistake and crashed again but eventually managed to get back to 18th. It is ok, tomorrow is the day that counts for the points so I need to put everything together for tomorrow and keep the pace. I like the track; the layout is good and even though it is soft I enjoy it as it is so fast and there are some nice ruts and jumps. I am just going to stay positive for tomorrow and hopefully I will not crash.

Tim’s reaction from the start was very good but then he pulled a wheelie which forced him to shut off. This then meant the door was closed so it was an uphill struggle from then on. He ran a reasonable pace within the pack but couldn’t make the step to get through. We will look at the information tonight and hopefully tomorrow with a better start, we can achieve a better result. Bobby started well but then got it wrong through the wave section just after the first turn, another rider clipped his front wheel at the same time putting him down very heavily. He got up but was quite sore from taking the handlebars to the stomach. In typical Bobby style, he charged through to make as many places as possible, eventually making it back to eighteenth place.
