Steady start for HRC MX2 in Lommel
HRC MX2 riders Jed Beaton #14 and Michele Cervellin #747 had a steady start to the MXGP of Belgium today on their CRF250RW’s as they both finished inside the top 20.
After putting in some work this week, Jed had a strong start out the gate, managing to keep with the pack. With a track that is already a challenge, the start made his life easier by avoiding having to work his way through the group. The Aussie had a consistent race, pushing for places through the sodden Belgium sands. After a small mistake which threw his rhythm mid race, Jed came in 15th.
Michele initially had a nightmare at the start of the race. He had a poor start and then crashed twice setting him right at the back. Digging himself out of the sand, the Italian; not short of determination, persisted and managed to make his way in to 18th place. This was no small feat for Michele, on a track which many were struggling with and with limited line choices to make a pass.
With no rain forecast overnight, hopefully this should dry out the track to leave conditions more favourable for tomorrows race. The first MX2 race starts at 13h15 local time tomorrow.

My speed was not so bad today. The downfall for me today for me was that I crashed twice. Once off the start and then once further on in the race. I would find myself getting into a rhythm, then I pushed and fell off so I had to calm down and be clever with how I rode as the track is tough. The qualifying result today was not actually good but if I don’t fall off tomorrow and stay consistent then I think I will have a much better race.

Qualifying today was actually pretty good. The biggest thing was that I actually managed to get off the gate with everyone else today! I know I lost my rhythm in the middle of the race and lost a few sports. The track was pretty difficult with a lot of water around and deep ruts so it was pretty hard to ride. There was some corners that was fully underwater which made it hard to move across the track to the other lines as it was just slop! Hopefully tomorrow will be a little bit drier and it will change the tracing conditions and make it better to ride in.

Jed pulled himself a good start today which was much, much better and I know he was immensely pleased with that as well. He rode well and pushed very hard, as we saw him do in Czech. He settled into the race but lost a bit of rhythm and a few places so 15th is an OK finish for him considering he has come from EMX! Michele had a poor start, then had a couple of crashes but once he picked himself back up he managed to get his way back into the top 20. Tomorrow the start will be really important for both of them as well as riding consistently and cleverly. This track is so tough and you have to respect that so that you don't end up on the floor.
