Rodriguez proves himself in Portugal MXGP qualifying.
Rodriguez proved what he was capable of achieving today on his CRF250RW in the MX2 qualifier of the MXGP of Portugal.
Settling into the MXPG format and having spent more time on the bike, Rodriguez had a solid qualifying race today in Agueda. Getting a good gate, he was able to make up ground quickly into the top 10. He had an intense battle with Watson and eventually crossed the line in eighth place.
Cervellin couldn’t find his rhythm today on the golden terrain. He struggled off the start and then ended up mid pack with little room to make up any ground, coming in 13th.
The first MX2 race starts tomorrow at 13h15
Michele Cervellin 747
I didn't have the best day today. I felt really stiff on the bike and couldn't find my rhythm. I had a bad start and then struggled to come through the pack. I know I just need a better start and then I will be where I should be tomorrow. The race is what is important tomorrow so I hope I do better.
Anthony Rodriguez 127
I had a much better start today then I did in Ottobiano, I finished in eighth and had some really good battles with Ben Watson, we passed each other quite a few times. It was pretty hard and pretty fast on the track but I liked it. Overall I was happy with how my race went today. This should hopefully make a huge difference tomorrow as I will have a much better gate. The good gate will mean I get a much better start instead of starting dead last.
Roger Harvey
Today Rodriguez had good start and showed us what he we expected of him. He had a great battle going on throughout the race and ended up coming in eighth. Now we have seen this side to him we are keen to see what he can do tomorrow. Cervellin had a weaker start and as a result was left in the middle of the pack. He struggled all race and came in 13th, he knows he will need a better start tomorrow to be in the top ten.
